Now standards improve / change over time and FBX is no different, Autodesk (who created / own the FBX standard) have tweaked / improved (there are a lot of slashes in this article for some reason :)), the standard over the years, however usually this is fine because most tools try and support as many options as possible, however of late there are some REALLY old versions which are going out of style and support is wavering. X (DirectX) and obj (Wavefront) either aren’t supported or implementations can vary (but everyone always has an opinion on which format is their favourite.
